The Origin and Purpose of the National Common Courtesy Day:
There is no official record as to the origin of this wacky day. Its purpose though had become a necessity with the passing years: to remind the people of the virtue of courtesy. As everyday living’s pace had grown fast and survival measures require time, the common acts of courtesy are slowly fading away. This day is to remind people of how important common courtesy is to relationships.
The Celebration of the National Common Courtesy Day:
There is no better way to celebrate this day than doing little random acts of kindness to others. Practicing politeness through the use of simple words of thanks, requests, being excused, greeting and bidding goodbye are highly recommended. Giving up a seat for an elder in a bus would also be nice.
Showing consideration to others by holding doors open for others, acknowledging an acquaintance with a smile in passing, and keeping the voice down in speaking are also encouraged. Sharing cookies or mini-cakes to neighbours or classmates, patience in driving and observing proper table manners are also recommended.
