It was this concerned groups who are responsible for bringing this worldwide human abuse to the United States government’s attention.  In a study conducted, it had been found that the United States America is the source, transit and destination country of the modern day slaves.  This includes sex trafficking, early and forced marriages, debt bondage, involuntary servitude and debt bondage.

The National Human Trafficking Awareness Day observance:

Aiming to make the whole world aware of the modern day slavery, massive information campaigns are done.  With the use of all available forms of media, information is shared to the whole world.  Spearheaded by the United States of America, various organizations are created and supported to prevent and fight human trafficking.  This day announces to the world the different groups assisting the government in this endeavour.

Seeking the cooperation of businesses, religious groups and families, education is given for all to never support forced labour.  Notable groups sharing resources and initiatives with the US government are the International Rescue Committee, Equality Now, Polaris Project, Vital Voices Global Partnership and Free the Slaves.  The government also imparts to the people the actions taken to combat this occurrence, such as, empowering investigators and training law enforcers.
