When is the National Margarita Day in 2014?
The National Margarita Day is on February 22, 2014, a Saturday.
The National Margarita Day is always celebrated in the United States of America every 22nd day of February each year.
The Origin and History of the National Margarita Day:
There is no formal recording as to the origin and history of the National Margarita Day. Even its creation is governed by legends. In 1934, a bartender in Mexico City named Willie claimed to have created the drink for his friend, Marguerite Hemery. It was also claimed by Carlos Herrera in 1938 that he created the cocktail for Marjorie King in his Tijuana restaurant.
A third claim as to the Margarita’s creation is attributed to a Dallas socialite, Margarita Sames, who served it to her house party in 1948. One of her guests was Tommy Hilton who included the cocktail in his Hilton Hotels’ bar menu. This fun holiday though had been celebrated annually to pay tribute to the most common tequila based cocktail in the United States.
The National Margarita Day celebration:
The Margarita is the symbol of friendship, good times, food and life. So, the best way to celebrate this special day is to hold a cocktail party. Send invites through ecards with the request for them to come in green, Margarita’s colour. An RSVP may also be included indicating preferred Margarita flavour, such as, strawberry, mango, blackberry, raspberry, watermelon or pomegranate.
A bartender who can prepare Margarita iced, frozen, shaken or blended would surely ensure the party’s success. It would also be delightful if the cocktail drink is prepared in a wide array of colours. The latest trend is the Blue Margarita which would be perfect with food prepared using tequila as one of the ingredients.
