Life consists of poignant seconds carving memories that linger in our hearts.  One of these unforgettable moments is when a person receives a marriage proposal from the beloved.  For those who haven’t received one yet, it is a hopeful dream.  After all, such instances have the power to change someone’s life.

When is the National Proposal Day 2017?

The National Proposal Day is on March 20, 2017, a Monday.

The National Proposal Day is always observed all over the world on the 20th of March each year.

The Origin and Purpose of the National Proposal Day:

There is no exact date in record as to when this special day was first observed.  It was, however, created by John Michael o’Loughlin of Irving Texas to dedicate a day for men to propose marriage.  Learning from a cousin’s experience, he thought of this day to urge lovers to take the plunge.

The date was chosen due to the alleged effects of the spring awakening to the human hormones.  Falling on the Vernal Equinox, it symbolizes the equal forces between the couple necessary in making a marriage work.

The National Proposal Day celebration:

For those who have been dating for at least three years and have truly known the partner, this day is perfect for asking the lady, “Will you marry me?”  Obviously, this question goes with a ring specially picked for the day and the lady over a romantic dinner or other creative scenarios.

For those who haven’t prepared for this big day, a second chance comes during the Autumnal Equinox on September 23 of the year.  It is also advisable that the parents’ approval be had before the formal marriage proposal to the lady is made.
